The London Calling Mobile Phone

It’s a classic K6 Red Telephone Box shaped mobile phone. It features a 65k colour TFT screen, camera, full SMS and MMS functionality, polyphonic ringtones, and GPRS/WAP 2.0. You can set your wallpaper to display one of fifteen different iconic images from old Blighty, plus you can select from Rule Brittania, God Save the Queen, or one of twenty other ringtone melodies.

London Calling measures 102mm by 43mm by 21 mm, and weighs approximately 100 grams. As an unlocked GSM phone, all you have to do is plug in your current Orange, T-Mobile, Virgin or Cingular SIM card and start talking. More information and picture after the jump. Popular Mechanics is picking up some rugged cell phone for a test.

“Ruggedized cellphones are typically designed to comply with Military Specification 810F, able to withstand light shocks, short falls and splashes. But just how far can they go? We took three and pushed them way beyond their spec sheet to approximate real-life mishaps—if real life was a demolition derby run by Navy SEALs. For the phones, it proved to be a one-way trip to PMs lab.

The Sonim looked and felt the toughest, but the Verizon G’zOne Boulder was the winner—it continued to work until it was literally a tangle of plastic shards and wires.”

General Mobile DSTL1 Dual-SIM Android Phone

General Mobile is going to launch its latest dual-SIM Android phone starting June. According to Adroid Authority, the phone will be first released in the US and Turkey, follow with Russia and Germany. The phone comes with a 3-inch TFT resistive touchscreen display with 240 x 400 resolution, a 624MHz Marvell PXA 310 processor, a 5MP autofocus camera with flash, an Android 1.5 Cupcake, dual SIM card slots, a 4GB microSDHC card, music and video players, Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR, A2DP and supports Tri-band GSM connectivity (900/1800/1900MHz). Softbank Mobile + Sharp has come out with a phone 10-megapixel CCD sensor, it is the AQUOS SHOT 933SH. It has a sleek and simple design and this AQUOS phone features auto-scene selection, auto focusing, LED flash and sensitivity up to 12800 ISO. The phone also comes with 3.3 inch touchscreen swivel-able display, a Bluetooth, HSDPA and dictionary. Finally we hit the unfortunate part, the phone is only available in Japan.
